As If On Cue

Shana couldn't believe they were arguing yet again; it seemed like that's all they did lately.

Justin's voice grew increasingly loud and his face began to redden.

As if on cue, Shana's dog left her side and walked cross the room to where Justin was standing. Lifting its leg, the dog aimed a stream of warm urine directly at Justin's pant leg.

Firing off a string of expletives that ended with "That's the last &%#@ straw," Justin stormed out the door.

Shana collapsed onto the floor in laughter, partly at her dog's perfect sense of timing, and partly in relief that the relationship was over."

  4. No wonder they say a dog is a man's and by that i mean a woman's, as is the case here, best friend, always to the rescue of its master, in this case, mistress.
    Superb writing, Josie.

    1. Hahaha! Dogs are good judges of character. If the dog doesn't like him/her, odds are you should pay attention to that.

  10. I, for one, am completely willing to a) accept that (a) dog is capable of accurate judgment of character and 2) one would defer to and agree with the canine assessment. And, in your very delightfully direct style, the canine's manner of communicating this is direct and unequivocal. Very fun Six

  14. Dogs are an excellent judge of character. And very defensive of their owners. You can bet that if your dog doesn't like or trust someone you had better pay heed :)
Very smooth transition with the cue word!

    1. I have found that to be very true. If they dislike someone they are sensing something that you will sooner or later discover. They always have their owners best interests at heart!
