A to Z Theme - Circle of Hope:
A serial story (written in six-sentence segments) involving twenty-six women living in the small Midwest town of Cottonwood Creek, their lives connected by the Women's Circle of the town's protestant church, Hope Christian Fellowship, to which they all belong.
Belle, 46, serves as the organist at Hope Christian Fellowship, and is a driving force in both the church and the community; if someone needs help or something needs to be done, Belle will find a way to make it happen.
Belle grew up in a large family on a farm near Cottonwood Creek and remembers what it was like to be poor and go without, but she married a good man who is also a good provider, and she is able to use her time and talents in service to others.
Belle heard that Alyssa had returned to town and was struggling financially. She talked to her friend Norma, Vice President at the Community Bank and learned that the bank had a teller position open, so she dropped by to visit Alyssa and her mom, and told her that Norma would be glad to interview her for the job.
Alyssa was stunned that someone she didn't even remember would make an effort to help her. She went to bed that night feeling hopeful about her future for the first time in a long time. Norma went to bed smiling too; she knew she didn't have much time left on this earth and it was important to her to make what time she had remaining count.
