A to Z Challenge - Theme Reveal

It's almost time!  The April Blogging from A to Z  Challenge begins in less than two weeks, with the first posts going up on Saturday, April 1st.  I've participated in the Challenge five out of the last six years, and I'm excited to be joining in again!

My theme for this year's A to Z is "six sentence stories".  The series will be entitled Full Circle, and each day I'll be sharing the story of another woman in the small town where this tale takes place.  Although their ages range from eighteen to eighty, their lives are interconnected in that they are all members of the ladies group of the local protestant church.  Some of the characters and life stories will be modeled after those I became familiar with while growing up in a small Midwest town.

These will be very brief stories, exactly six sentences each; a format that I've discovered to be fun through my weekly participation in Zoe's Six Sentence Stories blog hop.  I hope you'll enjoy them!

Disclaimer: Grammatical sentence structure will be loosely interpreted.  You can expect ellipses, semi-colons, and run-on sentences, because I can. :-)

Please be aware that although I usually reply to comments on my posts, due to time constraints during the A to Z Challenge I will forego that in order to use my time to return to your blog to read your post and leave a comment for you there.

If you're planning to participate in the A to Z Challenge and you've got a theme in mind, write about it and link your post up in the comments on the A to Z Blog here, and (or)  the A to Z Facebook page here.
A to Z Coming Soon!

  2. Six sentence stories is a challenge I've never attempted--I have so much of a tendency toward wordiness that I think I'd have a tough time with it. I think you have what will be a fun theme framed within that challenging parameter of six sentences.

Have fun with it and hope our new social media strategy works well for you.

  9. Good luck - six sentences sounds like fun. I'm doing flash fic as well, about dragons, but I decided against a word limit (I usually try to do drabbles, but I thought I'd be freeform this year) :).
I look forward to popping by during April.

  22. Sounds like fun, Josie. Writing them are fun, I've written a few for Jenny on my other blog. I will check in yours to see how it is going. My grandparents like oysters. For special get-togethers they would serve oyster stew. Also my grandmother made the best scalloped oysters. No family member that I know of has her recipe. I can't remember ever turning down oysters. Now, since coming south, is in oyster poboys.

  26. Love it. I did six-sentence stories last year and had an absolute blast. I'm sure you will too. And you're right -- semi-colons and ellipses become your close friends!

This year I'm writing my murder scene. Yep, I get killed every day in April. But like Wile E Coyote, I revive by night to do it again!

  30. Microfiction is such a fun challenge. I used to participate in regular flash and microfiction hops and contests a few years ago, though most of them seem to have folded.
