The Gentle Giant - A Children's Tale - Part I

Maximus was a big white dog who lived a wonderful life with a family who loved him very much, but sometimes he still felt lonely when they were away at work and school.  One afternoon he went out his doggy door to roam around the backyard and he heard a soft voice coming from the bushes, crying "mew, mew."  Maximus stuck his big head under the bushes, and was surprised to find a tiny gray-striped kitten who took one look at Maximus and jumped straight up in the air, which made Maximus laugh.  "Wow, you are gigantic!" said the kitten, and she told him that her name was Mewsette.  Mewsette followed Maximus back into the house and they quickly became friends, so they were both very happy when his family said she could stay.

  1. Dogs and cats can be great friends if they give each other a chance!

    1. That's true, I know many families that have dogs and cats that are friends, so much depends on how they were raised, but then that's true of all babies, isn't it? We can raise them to love or we can raise them to hate. The choice is ours. :-)

    1. Thanks! Just a fun little thing for the prompt, but I could see expanding it into a tale of their shared adventures.

  3. Wonderful story of friendship. We could take a lesson from this about the unimportance of looks and outer differences when we look at others. Thanks for sharing with In Other Words.

    1. I agree, Patricia, there are many things we can learn from animals, cross-species friendships are fairly common, so they understand what we some times struggle to realize.

    1. It was a quick, fun tale about a very big dog and a very little kitty that become friends. In most cases it will be that way if they are given time and space to get to know each other, unless someone has taught them to be enemies, which is always sad in life. I could see this developing into a larger children's story at some time.
