Thankful Thoughts - January 28, 2017

I am thankful for reaching the point in life where I am ok with just being myself.  I do not have to succumb to pressure, or feel the need to jump on any bandwagons. I am a unique creation with a unique purpose and role to play.  If I listen to my heart, and listen when I pray, I can sleep at night knowing that I did the best I knew how, and what I believed to be right. I think too often we get caught up in the emotion of things without really thinking it through all the way, this causes over-reactions which can do more harm than good. I am thankful I have learned to slow down my reaction time.

  1. Wonderful thoughts, Josie. Reacting too quickly sometimes leads to things said that can't be taken back. Think of "sending" the e-mail, it's gone. We can only apologize then.

    1. I agree Jim, I used to fire off at everything and everyone that upset me or I disagreed with. Over time I have learned the value of taking time to think it through first.

    1. Yes, there is a sense of inner calm about knowing that I don't have to do anything or decide anything that doesn't feel right for me.

  3. I was fifty when I first felt it was ok to just be me. I now am fine with who I am wrinkles and all. I no longer try to fit in...I either do or don't. And the best part is anger is a rare thing. There is great inner calm when you know who you are and are happy.

    1. You have it exactly right, Patricia! I think it takes most of us some years of living to arrive at that place, but once we do it's really nice being contented with yourself and your life.

    1. It sure is, it feels good to not care so much about what others might think or say.

  5. I am so happy I have learned to love me. The funny thing is, it makes it so much easier to love everyone else.

    1. That's true! We have to accept and love ourselves before we can give those gifts to others. It is not being selfish, it's self-care.
