Thankful Thoughts - January 20, 2017

I am thankful that I live in the USA.  The events of this week really bring home how blessed we are as citizens to have freedom of speech, and the freedom to dissent, along with all the other freedoms we enjoy.  There are many places in the world where freedom of expression is not tolerated.

  1. An excellent quote, i hope we can truly learn to live by it.

    1. I do too, Mimi. Too many people think freedom has no bounds, but that's not true. Our personal freedom ends where it interferes with another's. If we believe in freedom, we must believe in it being for everyone, not just us and our ways!

  2. So true many countries you would not be able to openly complain and protest against the elected president

    1. Absolutely true, Jo-Anne, and certainly not to the extent we see happening here. It would be considered treason, and we know the punishment for that is imprisonment or even death.

  3. This is so true. Despite the negative attitudes that are prevailing right now, you still have the freedom to express you negative attitude. If that made sense.

    1. That's right! Even if things are far from perfect in our country right now, and there are plenty of reasons to be dissatisfied or at least very concerned, we have the right to dissent, and we should be so very mindful that it is a sacred privilege.
