Thankful Thoughts - January 11, 2017

I am thankful for the Christmas Cactus Papa Bear gave me last year.  It is thriving and blooming profusely again this season.  The bright pink blossoms are gorgeous!  I keep a small bowl of them in the refrigerator because the cool temperature keeps them fresh, and they make me smile each time I open the door.

  1. Looking at flowers can make anything better, at least for a moment.

  2. I've never seen a Christmas cactus. I'm not a plant or flower person, though --- I kill anything in my path. I've always been envious of anyone that can make something grow. If I have any kind of plant or flower in the house, any or all of my fur children considers it salad. No matter where I put it, they always find it. So I'll be happy to look at your cactus --- post a picture, will you?

    Hugs.

    1. The same is true here, Jamie. Papa Bear has a Christmas cactus that was grown from one belonging to his great-grandmother! He gave me one last Christmas. I love them because they thrive on neglect. We keep them in a East-facing window in "Sophie's room" because she is the one furkid that won't mess with them. Even hanging plants in the main area of the house attract arial acrobats with paws and claws. My daughter has beautiful plants in her home, with two cats, I don't know how she manages to keep them from being torn up or turned over. I will take a photo to share with you!
