Slightly Cracked

Anyone who has been my friend for very long is well aware that I am not only slightly cracked but my brain is a bit scrambled too! :-)  It turns out that most of the people I am drawn too have similar situations.  I've always figured that anyone who appeared to be perfect probably has something they are hiding, and if they truly are perfect I'd be uncomfortable around them.

I do not seek perfection, I know that's not going to happen to me in this life time, and most certainly if I was my halo would either fit too tightly or tilt to one side. :-)  The most I can hope for and strive for, is to be the very best I can be, and that will have to be good enough.  I also tend to think that people who are "slightly cracked" are far more interesting than those who always roll on the straight and narrow pathway.  The older we get the more permissible it is to have a few quirks and I'm pretty much ok with the way I am.

The few real friends I am blessed to have must realize that slightly cracked or not, I still have a good heart, and that is what's most important.

I'm joining Patricia for In Other Words
where this week's writing prompt
is the following quotation by Bernard Meltzer:
"A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg
even though he knows that you are slightly cracked."

  1. There was a lady at one church i went to and she was perfect. She was also one of the nicest, kindest, most loving women i've ever met, and she was so perfect that many of us agreed if we weren't all Christians, we'd have to hate her!

It's okay to be a bit cracked, it makes us all more interesting when we are.

    1. I've known a couple people in life like this too, Mimi, good in every way, and such a blessing to others. But I also suspect that deep down inside, she probably has doubts and insecurities just like the rest of us. Some people just keep their issues more private and put their best foot forward. That's good... to a degree. But one Jesus was truly perfect, and we shall never be.

  2. I like makes life more interesting!

    1. I totally with you, Terri! There needs to be a little bit of the unexpected in life to make us smile! :-)

Your comments are always appreciated... they make me smile! :-)
