Innocence

Look at my sweet little face, the very picture of innocence.

Why does Mom always blame everything on me?

A book falls off the shelf, she hollers at me.

A cookie disappears, she blames me for that too.

Really, she has nothing to base these accusations on!

Pictures, she has pictures?

    1. They can indeed be so very clever and sneaky, all while being so affectionate that you just can't get mad! My grown children would tell you that my cats get by with far more than they ever did! :-)

  5. Love your photo and kitty dialogue. We do blame our cats for a lot of things but they are also guilty a lot of the time! Love the paw going for the cookie! I'll try and visit you over at Six Sentence Stories. Sounds interesting!

    1. Since I don't have children at home, if something is upset, out of place, or has disappeared, it's a pretty safe bet that one of those four beautiful faces you see on the right is behind it! I love how they will try to look innocent if something "falls off the table" next to them, all the while waiting to see how you'll respond. Much too smart for their own good at times! :-) Six Sentence Stories is a lot of fun, quick and easy, and you'll find a little bit of everything there. Come and join us!

    1. Thanks Keith! I was smitten by the photo of that little kitty paw trying to nab the cookie! Mine are so often caught in the act! :-)

  7. I laughed.
Nicely set up... bring us along and then (the inspired choice of photo... the cookie).

    1. I'm glad it made you laugh! That cookie photo was just too good not to use! Cats are famous for their lightning fast paws! :-)

  8. The cat paw is perfect! They are innocent until they aren't and then they are too cute in their guilt to be mad with.

    1. The photo inspired my story, Patricia, it was perfect! You are so right about our furkids, how can you be mad at those beautiful little faces with their playful spirits! If one cannot stalk prey, a cookie will surely do! :-)

  10. We used to have a cat with a sweet tooth. One morning we woke up to the cookie jar askew. He had nine oreos in various stages of consumption. We wondered how many he had given to the dogs.

    1. Too funny, Annie! It was a cookie party for all! Sophie loves sweet things and Toby loves anything and everything! The other two don't really get the excitement over sweets. I wish I was more like them! :-)

  11. Made me laugh! Cats pretend they are sooooo innocent!

    1. Isn't that the truth! But I can almost always pick the guilty one out from among my bunch just by the shifty way that one acts when I happen upon whatever surprise they've left me, sort of like avoiding eye contact! :-)

    1. Sadly true, no escaping the rap when you're captured by the camera! I suspect the punishment for said crime wasn't too severe. Could anyone look at that photo and not laugh? :-)
