Go With the Halo

I have often said that I manifest both the sacred and the profane in my writing and in my life.  Fairly often I find myself yielding to minor temptations or bad behavior.  One night recently when I was pestering Papa Bear as he tried to fall asleep, he asked me why, and the only valid response I could provide was "The devil made me do it!"  Papa Bear then cited the classic illustration of having an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other.  "Go with the halo", he said, "not the horns".  I try, most of the time I really do, but as to whether I am more drawn to the halo or the horns, I think it's pretty much a draw. :-)

  1. Well, this was interesting. I tend to go with the halo. I think it is indeed the angel on my shoulder that makes me do that, too. I have a very persistent angel, whose voice is always clear as to what I need to do. It isn't always easy to do the "right" thing.

    2. My angel makes her presence known too, Annie, but as you know I tend to be a bit rebellious, which rarely works out well for me. ;-) We really hope you will join us for Six Sentence Stories, you were doing them before so I know you are good at it!

    1. I'm smiling Gail, I think we are a lot alike in that way, too stubborn for our own good at times, and yet that is the reason we have survived!

  4. It can be fun to tease or play with someone, sometimes.

    1. That's right, as long as you don't take it too far, then it ceases to be fun. Papa Bear just rolls his eyes at me ;-)

  5. A little impish behavior is fine but we should use a little discretion especially at shut eye time! Although I have heard "Go to sleep will you!" a few times.

    1. LOL, Old Egg, you are right. Moderation is the key! I must admit that when I saw this graphic the first thing that came to mind was "Old Egg"! But I think you are a pretty awesome old egg! :-)

  6. LOL - love it. I think we all have the capacity for both. It's our choices that determine the outcome. And I think a little fun behaviour to tease our mates is just that -- good ole fun. So I don't think you've got the horns ..... just maybe a bit of a crooked halo. LOL

    1. I agree, none of us is absolutely one or the other, we are mixture, which hopefully leans more toward the direction of good, and for the most part I do. It is true though that my halo might be a bit tilted (or possibly a bit tarnished)! :-))

    1. Absolutely, we are always honest with each other, and he knew I was just playing, he laughs at my behavior when I do such things, in fact it's fair to say that he expects it. :-)
