Change of Address

In 2012 I wrote a post called The Road I've Travelled in which listed the thirty-seven residences in eighteen cities, eight states and two countries that I've called home in my sixty-two years of life.
I've moved with my family, with a partner, and sometimes on my own. Some of those moves were sad and/or scary, but usually I was happy to see the old address in the rear view mirror. I always look forward to the adventure of discovering a new place; I have a Gypsy soul.

Papa Bear has also moved more than twenty times in his life so we are quite content to stay put on our little piece of land out in the country for the time being.  We are talking about making one more move though, to someplace greener than it is here in West Texas; one more change of address before our final forwarding address reads "Gone to Heaven." :-)

where the cue this week is "ADDRESS"

  1. I have lived at my current address for 28 years. I remember moving out of our first home into an apartment while our house was being built. Those pile of boxes in your photo just remind me of too much stuff and not enough room. Hopefully, all our final addresses will be the same.

  2. It is interesting to think about this aspect of our journey, Josie. I think these places colour the landscape of our lives.

I have lived in this home for 28 years this month. I have lived in 22 places. However, not counting college, I went to eleven schools. I always had good grades, but I do love reading and learning. For me, it has always been empowering.

It is no wonder that I have security issues with change. You know what I always say, "there is security in sameness". For me, there is.

  3. I have moved 11 times, I think it's eleven. Four towns/cities and two states. Have lived in my condo twenty years. No plans to move but it could happen.

  8. There have been 10 moves in my lifetime but I don't regret any as you always learn so much in each abode and memories too come drifting back that despite the hardships there were good times too.

  9. Have to think how many places I've lived...I think this is 9. Funny, I was just looking on the internet for my first childhood home and address (because of Ivy's stripper name thing). :D I love that you and Papa Bear have found a wonderful place together. <3

  12. I've moved quite a bit, but no where near that many times. I always feel kind of divided on the issue: I didn't grow up in the scenario of being in a "Family home" for years that I grew attached to, and I love the sense of adventure and discovery of new places. But, now that I am raising my own children in a "family home" that we have been in 11 years, I love that I can give that to them --- but I feel rather restless. Strange right?
