Two Sizes Too Small

I'm joining Patricia at Patricia's Place for In Other Words
where the current writing prompt is the following quotation by Tanya A Moore:
"A person's world is only as big as their heart."

The first thing that popped into my mind when I read the above  quote was the line from the famous Dr. Seuss book "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" about the reason for the Grinch's pathetic behavior... "But I think that the most likely reason of all may have been that his heart was two sizes too small."

I am thinking we all know some people like that too, people whose heart is so tiny that they only have room in it to care about themselves.  And we know that if you don't care about anyone else, you won't have many friends, so your world is going to be mighty small.

On the other hand, if you have a large heart, room to care for lots more, you could find that you have a wonderful life in store!  We know from the story that the Grinch's heart grew, and I'm believing that if you reach out to others, yours can grow three sizes too! :-)

  2. Those we meet who can't be giving and loving, are sometimes fighting unseen battles and need our love as much as those of us who are open and loving, to help them grow their hearts. When it is the hardest to be kind, is when our kindness is needed the most. I love the Grinch reference.

  3. I think the more we exercise our heart, the better it works, both physically and emotionally. Love grows, there is no doubt.
I linked to this with an O poem. This A-Z is exercising my heart and spirit.

  5. Dr Seuss could get to the heart of a matter in a witty and wise way. I don't think my heart is two sizes to small but I am not sure if it has grown three sizes. Thanks for sharing your big heart with In Other Words.
