The Draw

What was the draw? she asked herself.   How was it possible that she had been so na├»ve as to not see the warning signs of imminent danger?   He was so charismatic, and she was fascinated by the hint of darkness cloaked in a shroud of mystery and complex philosophy.  She didn't know that in joining with him she would be in for the ride of her life.

It wasn't long before she learned that his mind was twisted, that he was consumed with power, and that he worshipped evil. She had never taken satanic practices seriously, but now there was no denying that it was real; and the reality was more terrifying than anything she could have imagined.

    1. Most certainly it is, Ivy, evil incarnate. Not something to play around with, definitely not something to glorify.

  3. Oh no!? Domination coming up with an excuse the devil made me do it. Creepy.

    1. Did the devil make him do it, or did he choose it willingly in exchange for the power he craved? Perhaps it could be said that he sold his soul to the devil.

  4. talk about sneaking up on you…. the idea of a interesting turning into intriguing and then into something way more involving (than originally anticipated).

nice illustration of establishing a context, from which action and plot may proceed, either directly from or influenced by… (yeah, I get a kick out of watching technique and trying to figure out how it's done, and hopefully, learn something)

    1. I can honestly say that she didn't see it coming, Clark. She was young and somewhat sheltered from the dark side of life. Believing all people to be inherently good can have it's drawbacks at times. After I wrote this I realized that it could easily be a setting for saying so much more than could be told in six sentences.

  5. Very scary stuff. When you first see it, and it is behaving itself for the moment, evil can be very charismatic indeed.

    1. That is so true, Mimi, look how many charismatic leaders have led people to depths of madness, destruction, and even death.

  7. This is terrifying - I hope she can extricate herself from the evilness. So many times we are taken in my appearances and find ourselves somewhere we don't want to be. Wonderful illustration of being drawn in.

    1. She most definitely found herself in a terrifying situation, Val. Eventually she was able to extricate herself, but not without cost.

  8. This is something different from you. I like the "eerie-ness" of it. Not sure if there is such a word. I am following you here on blogspot now because for some reason your blog keeps getting dropped from my wordpress list. Don't know why that is but I do know I need my Josie fix. :)

    1. This is the other side of Josie, Patricia. The one that dwells in the shadows, or did at one time. I'm so glad you found a way to keep following me, not sure what is going on, but I do know that Google did something recently that dropped several people from following unless they had Google ID's. Gotta "love" Google, it's their way or no way! :-/
