The 52-Week Money Saving Challenge

This is the 52-Week Money Challenge that I referred to in my first step for Goal 7 for this year related to finances.  I've seen it popping up for the past couple years on Facebook, and I think that the breakdown by weeks keeps it simple and makes it feel doable.  Papa Bear will be matching my deposits into the savings account each week, so we'll hopefully end up with money for a vacation or something special.

There are a couple work-related financial concerns in our lives this year, and I know from past experiences that a random savings goal, or planning to set aside too large an amount often falls through in short order.  While I'm hoping and planning to try to save extra funds in our individual savings accounts, this is a joint account that we really want commit to doing together.  I will  keep you updated on how it goes.

  1. Oh, i like that! It gets you in the habit of regularly setting aside a small amount!

    1. That's right Mimi, it can show anyone who is just beginning a savings account how such a small amount of money can add up as the weeks progress. If someone was on a very tight budget it could even be done every other week to accumulate nearly $700 by the end of the year, which is still a good sum to have set aside for emergencies or fun.

    1. I think so too, Gail. It might be a stretch at the end, but would be so worth it!

  3. It doesn't look all that hard. We are a point in our lives where we are dipping into savings we have set up over the years for our retirement. Good luck with your plan!

  4. Enjoy your treat, Josie. Sounds like a nice way to keep the grocery fund safe and have money for fun too. Galveston again. We still haven't been since the hurricane not New Orleans either.

    2. I could very happily go to Galveston every year, or better yet just live there, Jim! Walking on the beach in the morning is my idea of a great way to start the day! But we will probably do something new the next time we are able to take a vacation, there is so much more of this country to see! You really should go back sometime, it's a one day trip for you!
