A to Z Reasons to Smile - "J"

Each day this month I'll be sharing a list of things corresponding to the alphabet letter of the day that encourage and uplift me, the little things that make smile. I hope you'll join me, and maybe add some of your own in the comments!
"J" Things That Make Me Smile...
Jesus - This list has to begin here.  What could make me smile more, feel more joy, than Him?  Jesus, a spiritual connection between God and man.

Journey - The quote pictured above reflects my philosophy of life.  Love sends us into this world, love is what we learn and share on the journey, and Love is what we return to at the end. I have always believed that, believing in love makes me smile.

Jelly - Jelly...mmm!  Jelly on toast, jelly on warm biscuits, jelly filled donuts.  My favorite kind of jelly is raspberry, what's yours?

Jack-o'-lanterns - It's pretty much impossible not to smile at a brightly glowing jack-o'-lantern.  They bring back so many fun memories of childhood - both mine and my children's!  Papa Bear is an excellent jack-o'-lantern carver! Come to think of it, there's really not much he isn't good at!

Jumbo Shrimp - Another definite yum!  I remember eating scampi with shrimp so big that just a few would fill a plate, unlike the tiny fare served at Red Lobster. Of course one has to realize that jumbo shrimp is an oxymoron. :-)

John Deere - Why does this make me smile?  My father was a John Deere dealer throughout my growing up years. It provided well for his family. We raised to think "the long green line" of farm equipment was the best made. We used to accompany to his shop occasionally on a Sunday to climb on big new tractors while he spent time on paperwork.  Those days are precious memories now.

Jerky - I love jerky, it's a great on-the-go snack! I recently found bacon jerky and that was even better!

Jigsaw Puzzles - These are fun to do!  I once did on that was several hundred pieces of nothing but red.  I'm not sure why I found it fun, I think it was about the challenge.  Nowadays you can do jigsaw puzzles of every kind and size online.  No missing pieces or puzzles accidentally broken apart, but just like with E-Books, you do loose some of the fun of actually picking up those pieces and trying to make them fit.

Jell-O - Yes, I do like it! Preferably without stuff in it or on it. But it's the memories of my mom's many varieties of Jell-O salads that were a part of every holiday, family gathering, and church dinner, that make me smile.  I have many of those recipes in a book I made copied from her recipe cards.  Just reading thru the ingredients, I can remember how they looked and tasted. I think most moms of her generation were Jell-O queens! :-)

Justice - Justice is a word I love. When I see fairness being transacted it makes me smile. I advocate for fair and equitable treatment for everyone. Of course justice also means that poor choices will be met with appropriate responses.  That being said, I love mercy equally well. I believe that justice and mercy are like the two wings of a bird - balance is important!

  1. Jesus would be at the top of my "J" list, too. Joy and Jubilee are two words that delight me as well.

  2. Love the qouet you have it is so true. My favorite jelly is strawberry. Jesus would be on my number one list also joy. I like jello but plain. My mom used to put pineapple and other fruit in it but i didn't really care about it. Your doing a great job looking forward to the k. Have a great day.
