A to Z Reasons to Smile - "F"

Each day this month I'll be sharing a list of things corresponding to the alphabet letter of the day that encourage and uplift me, the little things that make smile. I hope you'll join me, and maybe add some of your own in the comments!
"F" Things That Make Me Smile...
Family - Without a doubt the "f-word" that makes me smile the most broadly is anything connected to family, and especially Papa Bear and my kids.  They are the joy of my life!  It only takes one phone call, text, or photo to make me feel awesome!

Friends - Ranking right up there close behind family is friends... and for me that largely means folks I met online that have become real friends in every sense of the word over time.  My Internet "addiction" is mostly about the joy of that connection and the caring that is exchanged.

Fudge - My most favorite treat of all - FUDGE!  I love to make it.  I love to eat it even more.  When we travel we are always on the look out for fudge shops, it's become a fun part of our trips! One time my son sent me four pounds of delicious assorted fudge from a candy shop in Savannah, Georgia.  I was in fudge heaven for quite awhile with that cache!  Did I get tired of it?  Never! :-)

Feathers - It is said that finding a white feather on the ground is a sign that a loved one in Heaven is sending you a greeting.  I find one every now and then, and I always stop and pick it up and smile.

Ferry Boats - I do love ferry boats, it's great fun to be able to drive your vehicle right on to the boat and then off again on the other side whatever body of water you are crossing.  My favorite is the ferry at Galveston that crosses the shipping channel.  You can ride back and forth for free as often as you like.  As I stood on the bow on one crossing I saw dolphins playing in the waves in front of us.  That was so cool!

Full Moons - There is something powerful that draws us to a full moon... so majestic sailing across the dark sky.  I often note at work that we can tell when it's the full moon phase because everyone starts acting out, and some get a little crazy.  I totally believe that.  I also smile up at the full moon in the awareness that the people I care about are looking up at the same beautiful moon where they are - it connects us.

Flowers - I love flowers - the amazing variety and colors!  The scents of many are wonderful too, but they make me sneeze. :-)  I have a California friend on Facebook that posts a new photo each day of flowers that he finds on his walks.  I look forward to them and they always make me smile!

Fireworks - Okay, is there anyone (with the exception of our pets) that doesn't love fireworks?  They definitely bring out the "ahhhs" and "ohhhs" in us!  I can't imagine not smiling while watching  fireworks display.

Flash Fiction - I totally enjoy reading flash fiction, especially as found on blog-hops.  I never cease to be amazed at how well some people can tell a story with just a few sentences.  Brevity and conciseness are  clearly not my strong  suite, so it's a challenge for me to write flash-fiction, but I love to try!

Faith - Without question I've saved the best and most important "f" word for the end of this list - faith! Where would I be with out it?  The answer is easy, I wouldn't be here at all.  Faith sustains me, faith gives me hope, faith teaches me that my life journey will someday lead me safely Home - and that is the most awesome reason to smile that I know!

  17. I'm with you on full moons. I am almost obsessed with them. And fudge? I dearly love it, but being a diabetic, it means I can have one small bite.....and that's it. Painful!
