A to Z Reasons to Smile - "H"

Each day this month I'll be sharing a list of things corresponding to the alphabet letter of the day that encourage and uplift me, the little things that make smile. I hope you'll join me, and maybe add some of your own in the comments!
"H" Things That Make Me Smile...

Hats - I love wearing hats, the bigger the better!  Clearly I was born in the wrong time period.

Hearing Aids - Mine definitely make me smile, because I can hear lots of things with them that I can't hear without them... birds, soft cat meows, and quiet conversations for example.

Honey - The most amazing stuff, totally natural and it keeps forever.  I love honey in hot tea rather than sugar, and of course drizzled over warm sopapillas!

Heroes - They really make me smile!  Everyday people who make a decision to do the right thing and help another living being, whether it be in an emergency situation or working to bring about needed changes - people saving lives in hundreds of different ways, and not seeking glory for their efforts.

Hot Tubs - My favorite relaxation spot with Papa Bear at night under the stars.  Often we don't even run the water jets, we just soak in the warm water and enjoy the nature sounds of night.

Handmade Gifts - Aren't they the best kind?  To know that someone went to the effort to make something for you created with love, makes it an extra-special treasure. My one rule - if you are going to give a gift of d├ęcor make sure it matches with the tastes of the recipient, and don't be hurt if they opt not to display it.

Hummingbirds - Such beautiful, tiny things that it's impossible not to smile if you have some visiting your feeder!  My husband has a great-aunt now in her 90's that collects all things hummingbird, and loves them.  He gives her a new hummingbird calendar every year!

Hearts - I love all things heart-shaped!  Papa Bear has made me snow hearts in the winter and sand hearts at the beach.  He found a small tree that had been cut leaving a heart-shaped stump at ground level and took a picture for me.  He also sends me texts with hearts and "I love you" messages every day! I love heart-shaped rocks and blown-glass hearts, and heart-shaped boxes of candy too!  Hearts and love go together :-)

Hot Air Balloons - Is there anything that appears more peaceful and beautiful than a hot air balloon - or a dozen of them... floating lazily across the sky in the early morning?  I've lived in places where they were a common sight, and a few years back we attended a balloon festival and spent the morning watching them be inflated, rise in a mass ascension, and then go floating away.  Amazing!

Honesty - Honesty in people not only makes me smile, it's an essential for any relationships I choose to be a part of.  Trust is a fragile thing, and people who lie about small things will likely also be dishonest about big things.  I have no time for it, or for people who won't own up to things, covering their actions or the lack of them with lies.  Honesty is always the right way, and knowing people you can fully trust is refreshing!

  5. Sometimes the hot air balloon teams use the field across the street from us to take off or land. It's always something we run outdoors to see!

  6. You are so cute in ponytails! Homemade gifts..the best! Friends had a hot air balloon. We would get up at 4 am to help fill it and we were in the sky for the sunrise! Spectacular!

  8. I love hummingbirds too. Part of me would love to take a hot air balloon ride and the other half is a little nervous about the whole idea. I hope I get up the nerve to do it one day. Happy A-Z!
