Larger Than Life

I can't remember the first time I heard of him.  A private investigator with no hands, everyone in the city knew his name.  A recent newspaper article talked about his famous cases and the endless hours dedicated to his highly successful career.  It mention his appearance on Hawaii 5-0, his compounds of exotic animals, and his ultra-high-tech office.  Buried amidst the accolades was one sentence noting that he spent no time with his family, being so involved with his career.  While clearly a legend, in my eyes he is no hero.  He forgot that family comes first.  Knowing one of his children, I see what damage has been done.

This piece was written as an entry for Ivy's Contest where the challenge is to choose one of the  given starter sentences and add seven more of your own totaling 100 words or less, not counting the initial sentence.  The deadline for submissions is April 1st, and the prize is AWESOME... an 8 x10 print of any photo on Richard Hoebel's Photography blog.  His work is amazing!!

  1. So true that some sacrifice and forget everything for their work... They regret later. But, time is lost & we can never really make amends for the harsh choices we have made...
