The New Kid

While you can see from her expression that Sophie isn't totally thrilled, she is accepting her role as matriarch/grandma with grace, and is allowing Toby to snuggle up to her when he naps.  They look so much alike, except that her eyes are green and his are more amber.  He keeps Tiggy and Gracie on their toes with games of pounce and tag, and they still aren't too sure what to make of him, but they are all getting along nicely; we are past the hissing stage, and he is making himself right at home. He loves to snuggle up with us too, such a friendly little guy! :-)

  1. I think you may be showing favoritism!

    1. As every older sibling can tell you Joe, the new baby always gets all the attention! :-) However, I can assure you that half the fun this past week has been watching the reactions of the big kids as the little guy does his best to engage them in play. They are amazingly patient with him, a few warning hisses, but none of the fury they could unleash if they intended to do bodily harm. You have to admit that he is mighty cute! Papa Bear says it's nice to have another guy in the house, even if he is of the neutered variety. :-)

    1. We think so too, Gail, I had forgotten how much a kitten liven's up the place! :-)

  3. How precious they are! He will keep them young, and they will teach him to behave, a win for everyone.

    1. Exactly right, Mimi! His older sisters are much more alert and active these days, keeping a watchful eye out for him and what he might do next, it's like cat reality tv! A new baby in the house entertains everyone, and they are fulfilling their important role of teaching him his place and his manners... they have their work cut out on that... he is not shy or easily intimidated! :-)

  4. Lol, ya I remember whenever we would bring a new cat home, we would have the hissing stage and then eventually the "Ok, he can stay..." stage. : )

    1. You stated this perfectly, Joseph! My three bigger cats are now at the "ok he can stay" stage, but not yet at the "we really love him" stage. :-) He is their biggest source of entertainment right now, and ours too. New kittens are so energetic and funny!
