I Forgot

"Did you remember to make the reservations for our anniversary dinner tomorrow night?" Jenny asked Derek.

"Oops, I forgot," he replied nonchalantly, as he plunked down in front of the television while she stayed busy in the kitchen.

The next evening Derek arrived home over an hour late and found Jenny standing there in her nicest dress with tears streaming down her face. "How could you be late tonight of all nights?" she wailed.

"Oh Lord, I was so busy at work that I totally forgot about our anniversary," Derik mumbled, staring down at his feet.  "Maybe this will make up for it though," he said, retrieving tickets for a Mediterranean Cruise from his jacket and handing them to her with a sly smile.

  1. I'm not sure even tickets to a cruise would make most wives get over being late for an important date...at least not right away.

  5. If he had time to do the cruise bookings a simple phone to book dinner should have been easy. Even I wasn't that bad! I am not sure I like his sly smile either unless dinner is booked as well. A lot of food for thought here.

  6. Beautifully written about the feelings of Jenny. Derek has given a beautiful gift for her. Same thing happened in my life too . Here it is anniversary but for me it is my birthday. Surprise gift given by my husband was an outing to pondicherry.
