Missing Pieces

I began my first blog, A Piece of My Mind, in the Fall of 2006.  Blogging, and the bloggers I met, helped me retain what was left of my sanity as my marriage crumbled.  When I set out on my own I archived that blog and began a new one, Picking up Pieces, under the pen name Josie Two Shoes.  A year later I moved to Texas to begin my new life with John and Two Shoes in Texas was born.

As I pondered what to write for 6SS this week, Picking up Pieces came to mind, and something inspired me to check out an old email address that I hadn't accessed in over three years. You cannot begin to imagine how thrilled I was to find a file there containing the only existing back-up of my original blog from that difficult period seven years ago, a file I had searched for many times and thought was forever gone. The missing "piece of my mind" has been found! :-)

    1. Good analogy, Old Egg! Yes, those posts were very precious to me and it was such a delight to find them unexpectedly. It's funny how we can try and try to do something without success, then when the time is right it just comes to us! :-)

  6. How exciting! I'd be sad if I couldn't go back and read things I wrote years ago. (not that I wrote anything that many years ago)

    1. I was very sad that I had lost those writing efforts forever, Christine, especially since it was my initial blog effort. I think that I found the file just when God thought I was ready to revisit it!

  7. Very nice find, Josie, I am glad for you. ~~ This should happen more often to us, the finding of things we have thought were lost. I almost used "picking up the pieces also" but sort of did that last week.

    1. I agree, Jim, we sometimes don't realize the value of things until we have misplaced or lost them. I almost yelled for joy when I opened that file, though I eat my lunch at the office so that might have scared people! :-) I was surprised when I did a Google search to discover how many people have used that name for their blog!

  8. Sounds like a chipmunk hiding nuts for a rainy day. I used to do the same with my writing… butting an extra copy somewhere… but then often couldn’t find it. I suppose you had better reason than me for stowing away… Glad you found it.

    1. Ahh yes, Shimon, I have a tendency to do that with things, not just computer files... putting them someplace safe and then forgetting where that was! :-)
