30 Days of Thankful - Day 5

Despite the fact that I sometimes grumble about it, I am very thankful that I am able to work and have a job that meets my needs. Everyday I deal with people who would give anything to be healthy and well enough to find a job and keep one. I know that I am blessed. I can use my job position to make a difference in other people's lives, even if it is just to treat them with kindness and respect.

  1. I was just grumbling this morning at work. Then I told myself this same thing you said, then I am more appreciative ;o)

    1. I grumble about work a lot, Abelle. In truth, I'd much rather stay at home. But if I must work, and I must, then I am blessed that I am able, and that I have a good work environment with friendly people. I have worked in places that were so horrible, one for 19 years!! Sometimes we have to look at parts of things to see the blessing, this is one example. :-)

  2. To have a job that meets all three of these is lucky indeed. I've got #1 but 2 and 3 are a distant glimpse on the horizon, especially the past few weeks... Still, I'm lucky to have it, even with all the yuck.

Hope you've been well, it's been ages since I've had a chance to blog and visit my dear blog friends.

    1. Jobs have their ups and downs for sure, Robin. There are times we are doing ok, and even enjoying it, and times we'd like to cry or run away every day. But at least we have that job, imagine not having one, and no money, no food, no house, and medical issues that prevent you from working. When I deal with those folks I realize that I am blessed to have a job that I can complain about! :-))

  3. Well done. Well said. And I am sure you make a difference in the lives of at least some of the people.

    1. I always try, Annie. I put myself in their place and treat them as I would like to be treated. I know that "there but for the grace of God goes I", and someday it could be me. If I make even one person's day a little less difficult or stressful, then I am glad God can use me in this way!

  4. I truly understand. I have a great job and a great boss. Yet every morning, when pulling into the parking lot, I just take a deep breath and sigh in total disgust.... how can that be? But I am very very thankful for it!

    1. Some mornings I lay in bed and think of every possible excuse for not going, Lynn. Then I sigh, and throw back the covers, and get on with it. Once I'm on the way it's usually better. I think we both, maybe many of us wish we had jobs that were more personally fulfilling, that we didn't wish we were elsewhere doing something more fun, but at least we are able to get there and do it, and having had some really BAD jobs, I know that it could be much worse!

  5. You really do make a difference. At work... And away from work... And for that - I am thankful. ;))

    1. Thank you Soul! I try, it is the person that I want to be! I am thankful that you showed up here, I've missed you in blogland. Remember how supportive a group we used to be? There are some great folks on my blogroll, take some time one day and check 'em out! :-)

  6. Exactly. Every job can make a difference, too. Do it to the best of your ability, and it makes a difference to someone. Tell the CEO to get along without the janitors in the building for a while, they'll get the idea.

    1. That is so very true, Mimi. Both the security guard and the cleaning lady in the large building where I work are the kindest, most caring people. I visit with them often, and everybody really likes them, not only do they preform their jobs well, they do so with kindness and a great attitude! We can all make a difference, and it's important that it is a good difference!

    1. Thank you Mary, what a kind thing to say! I am just me, and I struggle as much as anyone else does, but I find that if I write about it, and pull out some positives, it sends my thoughts and my life in a much better direction. If it helps anyone else to see some of their blessings too, then I am doubly blessed!
