Sad News

Got some very sad news today, John took our Sophie to the vet to confirm what we already suspected, she has VAS, a rare and aggressive form of cancerous tumor. Removal would not likely be successful. Sophie is a shelter rescue kitty we estimate to be 8-10 years old, and the sweetest little kitty God ever made. She is in no pain at the present time, the vet roughly estimates her survival at six months to two years. When she reaches a point where she is suffering we will send her gently across the rainbow bridge, but between now and then there will be many, many tears.

  4. This breaks my heart. I truly wish they would do more investigation and work up on her. She is so young, and otherwise healthy. My heart breaks for her and you.

  6. I am so very sorry. And now, one of God's greatest gifts to animals comes into play.....since she does not know her fate, she will simply live out her life to the fullest, happily enjoying each day with no worrying. So glad she has such a good and loving family. Big hugs. I know what you're going through. xo

  8. If I was her, I'd definitely choose YOU to be by my side. Hold her, pet her, and tell her she is loved.

An estimate between 8 months and 2 years means nothing. That estimate could apply to any animal at any time! Or it just means the vet has no clue.

  11. Hi Josie ~~ I too am very sorry for Sophie's bad news. She has meant so very much to you guys and you have meant to much to her by the new life you gave her in the rescue.

I once heard on the raido, Elisabeth Elliot: The Loss of a Pet -- which is my basis for believing that pets go to heaven [plus see (Romans 8:18-25)].

    I believe her on that.

  14. My computer time has been sporadic at best lately so I am late to this sad news. It is sad but then there is joy in having her and the gift of her life. She loves and trusts you and knows you will never allow her to be hurt or hurting.

  15. Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and caring. Animals are blessed in that they do not worry about tomorrow, they life in the present. Sophie is greatly loved, and today her life is very good. She is peacefully napping in the sunshine. She has been and will continue to be a little blessing in our lives for as long as God allows. I am at peace with that.
