Seventeen years ago they stood side by side, Roy and his mother, as they buried JW,  father and husband, at an age far too young.  Roy was an only child, and it had always been just the three of them, so very close. The loss hit him hard. This past Monday morning, Roy succumbed to cancer at the age of 53.  His beloved mother, devastated as she watched her son suffer, had been hospitalized for the past few days with congestive heart failure; and just eight hours before him, she slipped quietly into the spirit world.  I know she must have lingered there waiting for him, and they departed for heaven together.
