The Swing

Come and sit by my side
At the end of a long summer day
Let the soft breezes cool you
Let my gentle touch soothe you
Let the slow swinging motion
Sweep all cares and worries away

  1. It works just that way too when you have someone very special in your life. We both do and we are so very fortunate.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs. ☺

    1. I love sitting out on our swing, but I sure wish my yard looked like this one! My "scenery" includes a pump jack and a pair of long-horn cattle. But the sunsets out here are AMAZING!

    1. I love porch swings too, Carrie! Why is it that they are so much more inviting than a stationary chair? I would love to spend a day doing just that with you, I'm sure we would never run out of things to say... though I might run out of voice, I've been known to talk myself right out of mine! :-)

  5. Lovely poem.
Oh, for a porch swing. We actually have a beautiful porch swing that my grandparents and my husband's grandparents used to sit on together when they were young. Unfortunately, we don't have a porch on which to hang it, so it sits in our garage. Sad state of affairs it is. We need someone to build us a frame. Know anyone?

    1. Thank you Christine. Just a sweet little verse as I thought of sharing my evening with Papa Bear. Often that's what gets me through a hectic day. Check out online plans for building a swing frame, in fact I bet you can find a video tutorial on YouTube! It sounds like a great summer project to put the kids to work on! :-)

    1. A swing is indeed such a nice romantic spot to share at the end of day, a cool drink, a snuggly arm around you, talking over life's events and watching the stars come out!

  7. I remember my porch swing time with my Grampy as a small child. He would tell me stories in the evening, after supper, before bedtime. Nice memories.
