Blogging From A to Z... "F"

An Attitude of Gratitude
I AM THANKFUL...

1)  For faith, the most important thing in my life. It's gotten me thru the hardest times.  I haven't always had faith, and I can testify that without it the world is very frightening and chaotic place.

2)  For freedom, the third most important thing to me, ranking right behind love  I treasure freedom so much that at last count the words free and freedom have appeared in more than fifty of my blog posts.

3) Speaking of fifty, I reached the half-century mark nine years ago, and will soon be looking at sixty. I am thankful for everything that has happened in the fifty-nine years of my life so far, all-together it has made me who I am today, so it was worth it... all of it.

4)  For the beautiful faces of the family, friends and furkids that I treasure.

5)  For all the amazing flowers that make our world beautiful.  Some of my favorites are violets, tulips, moss roses, yellow roses, and lilies of all kinds.

6) For soft flannel sheets on cold winter nights.

7)  For fudge - my most favorite indulgence of all!  Fudge frosting thick on top of warm chocolate Coca-Cola cake with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream along side ranks right  up there too.

8) For fond memories of being warmed and mesmerized by the flames of fireplaces, firepits, and bonfires.

9) For fantasies and daydreams, and the ability create images and stories in our minds.

10) For a fun visit to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center near Glen Rose, Texas with Papa Bear, where we got to be up close and personal  with some friendly critters and feed them from our hands....

  1. This was a very nice "feel good" post. I think this is a great way to feel good yourself, while spreading good feelings to others. It is good reminding ourselves and each other of the wonderful things around us. Thanks.

    1. Thank you so much, McGuffy Ann! These posts are making me feel good as I write them, and as I re-read them the next day, and then again as I enjoy all the nice comments! It pleases me that I am doing something that is having a positive effect. I have definitely noticed and improvement in my attitude this month, and we're only on the sixth letter, twenty more to go!

    1. Ahhh, another survivor of the middle-age years, and we're still going strong! :-)) It does take a little thought and reflection to do these and it's making me much more aware each day... win, win! :-)

  4. As I was re-reading this post this morning (I wrote it last night), I realized that I omitted another very important F... FORGIVENESS! Where would we be without that?! :-) Forgiveness has the power to change everything!

    1. Should I reply to my own comment? Sure, why not! I talk to myself all the time, at least in my head... and often answer my own questions, just as I have here. I amuse myself, I am FUNNY that way! :-)

  5. I would come back to read future posts if for no other reason than I love that you both commented and replied to your own comment.
Fortunately, I also think you have a great idea for a theme for the challenge. It is so important to look at the positives in our lives in order to be content, happy people.
I love fires and fudge frosting so very much too. I also like a plate of French toast for breakfast.

    1. Ha, I knew someone was sure to relate to that kind of atypical behavior! No one need worry until I start carrying on a full conversation with myself! (Well, I do, but I have the clarity of mind not to post those here... at least so far! :-)) I'm glad you found some F-words that you share an appreciation for. I like French toast too... another tasty treat! I think I could do a whole month on favorite foods, but that would surely garner some health-conscious comments. I do a few other things besides eat and write, really I do! :-) Thanks for dropping by!

  6. My visits to your place help MY attitude as well. Sure wish I could manage to utilize forgiveness.....but am having difficulty with that in one case. I think it's best to just give it to God and let Him guide me. Have a wonderful weekend Josie.

    1. Forgiveness comes hard for me too, Val, not in small issues that were one-time occurances, I can let that go, but there are a couple relationships from my past, and one in particular where a child was hurt, that I find it very hard to detach my anger from. I understand that forgiveness doesn't mean acceptance or dismissal of the wrong, it just means letting it go. I'll get there someday, I have with all the other lesser hurts. Forgiveness is very freeing. You'll get there someday too! HUGS

  7. Wonderful list. # 7 bout did me in though. Nothing anywhere near as good in this house and it is late and I am in my jammies. Note to self...it is not nice to covet other people's desserts.

    1. That's funny, Patricia, because I am having the same problem tonight, we ate dinner early and now I am thinking "snacks" and there is nothing good in the house for treats, read that no chocolate or such. It's midnight and we live twenty miles from town, so I guess it will be cinnamon toast! When it comes to chocolate... and especially fudge, I would not only admit to coveting, I might stoop to stealing if begging didn't work!

  10. well, Old Grizz has you young-uns by a few years and is happy about every one of them. I reall ejoy the positive words you choose and how you write about them. I have alway left forgiveness to God but I chosoe not to hate or hold any grudges. I don't have enough room in my heart to let hate or malice push aside love.

    1. Thank you GS, I am content with my years of life, I just wish they didn't go by so fast! So much more I yet want to do, but I suppose that's always true of everyone. It's been a good life all in all, and that's all we need really ask for. I like your concept of forgiveness. You are right about hate and grudges, love is so much nicer and far more powerful. Thank you for the uplifting thoughts tonight!
