Blogging from A to Z... "B"

An Attitude of Gratitude
I AM THANKFUL...

1) For the Bible that tells me what is right and true.

2) For big canopy skies over Texas! The land is so flat here, and the horizon so far, that sometimes it really seems like there is a dome overhead in the most amazing shade of blue

3) For Blogger, blogging, and most of all, for wonderful blog buddies that are such a blessing in my life!  The ability to connect with other people on this level has changed my life completely.

4) For the church bells that are playing hymns each morning as I arrive at work.  It reminds me of Sunday mornings as a child, when I could hear the bells of our church playing from our house across town.  I lived in a very small town. :-)  Such a pretty, uplifting sound!

5) For Papa Bear's beautiful butterfly.  (See photo below.)  He took this picture at the Botanical Gardens in San Antonio.  I love it because you can see light thru the butterfly's wings!  I have it as the background on my monitor at work, and as the photo on my debit card.  I get all kinds of compliments on that card!

6) For my new Beretta PX4 Storm subcompact 9mm handgun that is so easy on arthritic hands and fingers.  Yup... butterflies and handguns, that's me... the poster child for contradictions! :-)

7) For the little bird with the cheerful heart that sings happily morning, afternoon and evening in our barren yard.  He is content with our two little trees and doesn't fly away when I come and go. If I talk to him, he stops to listen, and his song always makes me smile.

8) For online banking, such convenience!  Sure beats those long lines we used to wait in!  Now we can even deposit checks by taking their picture and submitting it via our phone! Very cool!

9) For bacon, bagels, beer, and brownies... the four food groups! :-)  Ok, not really, but I love them all.  I can't drink much beer anymore, it causes allergy problems, but I share a bit of Papa Bear's, and it sure is good at the end of a long workday!

10) For friendly, caring bosses... I've had a few in the last thirty years that made life difficult. Both the company owner and the two attorneys I work for now are good people, and in that I am very, very blessed.

    1. I love contradictions, Joe, I very definitely am a person of dual natures. The peace-loving ex-hippie girl, who has a gun... or two... or three, and knows how to use them, but wouldn't kill anything living unless her life depended on it.

  2. I have to say #6 kinda' makes me a Bit uncomfortable...just sayin'. But, I do understand! Just Be careful!
The butterfly is Beautiful. Monarchs are seriously in trouble. This year, the place in Mexico where they congregate in migration showed extremely low numbers, about a third of the norm.
Best of luck with your Blog challenge!

    1. Don't worry, McGuffy Ann, I'm not really as unstable as I might at times appear! ;-) Guns for protection are always to be used as a last resort, only to save a life. I hope the day never comes when I need to use mine for that, but I am ready. Where I live, help arrives just in time to count bodies, not when you need it. It would be horribly sad to see the Monarch's demise. I think everyone is enchanted by them!

    2. Unfortunately, the law everywhere arrives too late now. We have friends that are policemen on the South Side of Chicago. Chicago has one of the worst homicide rates in the nation, now. We have friends who are local & county police, too. Crime is so prevalent that there is no "safe" place now. It isn't like when we were young. *sigh*

    1. The sky here really does amaze me, Dana. I drive twenty miles from where we live into the city each day for work, and home again and it never fails to be a peaceful time reflecting on the beauty of God's creation!
