Some Day Soon

When she was twenty, she decided that she was going to leave her small town and move to the big city... someday soon;

When she was thirty, she decided that she was going to go back and finish college... someday soon;

When she was forty, she decided that she was going to leave her abusive husband and start a new life on her own... someday soon;

When she was fifty, she decided she was going to go home and visit her aging father... someday soon;

When she was sixty, she decided that she was going to retire, write her memoirs, and spend more time with her grandchildren... someday soon;

When she was seventy, she asked her children to come and visit... they assured her that they would... someday soon.

    Good one Josie!

    1. And I'm betting most of us still know all the lyrics to the song, Gail. The message was loud and clear, and still rings true!

  4. It is sad she passed her trait on to her kids. I suppose analyzing it, fear of failure or of digging up the past is the problem. Humans are complex beings we have all developed techniques for survival, avoiding risks and confrontation is inbuilt in some people. They rely on the risk takers to advance humanity.

    1. I agree, Old Egg, that fear of failure is a big reason that people don't follow thru with what they plan, another is getting too comfortable in that rut, and being insecure about what changes might bring. Then again, sometimes we just lack motivation to accomplish anything more but survive each day, and that's kind of sad to my way of thinking, life can be so much more!

  5. Isn't there an old adage..."It's the thought that counts." Maybe I should look that up one day soon.

    1. Yes there is, and then there is another one... "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." I figure I must have paved at least a hundred miles of that road by now! :-)

  6. I liked your sad tale of missing out, but will doit 'someday soon,' Joseie.
    And I too liked the Cat Stevens song.

    But I liked better Judy Collins, Someday Soon, better. You probably remember it:.'

    "There's a young man that I know
    His age is twenty-one
    Comes from down
    In southern Colorado

    Just out of the service
    And he's looking for his fun
    Someday soon, going with him
    Someday soon

    ...

    Blow, you old Blue Northern
    Blow my love to me
    He's driving in tonight
    From California

    He loves his damned old rodeo
    As much as he loves me
    Someday soon, going with him
    Someday soon

    Someday soon, going with him
    Someday soon
    "
    ..

    1. Oh Jim, I love that song! Had a friend back in the ol' days that used to play this on her guitar, and it still plays in my head quite often. It was a beautiful tune, and it fits this prompt perfectly!
