Pondering... Race

Grown up at last! We can't wait to get there, school days over, tossed out into the bright lights of the real world.  Then the fun begins. On your mark, get set....GO... and go, and go.  Run without stopping,  produce without dropping; eye on the clock, headed for the weekend.  Doing the full-tilt boogie day and night, gotta get it all done, gotta get it right.  Is it Friday yet?  Yes, thank God it is!  We can play tomorrow, rest up on Sunday; come Monday we'll do it all over again.  Gotta wonder though, is this really how we wanted things to go?

  1. I have too much to say on this one. I'm going to save my thoughts for a future post. I will say, I loved this. Very, very well done.

    1. Awesome, I love it when I inspire you to write something! :-) This piece is kind of disjointed, which is just how I feel about time and the endless rat race that we never win.

  2. The older I get the more I realize that, no, no this is not how I imagined it.

    1. That's the way I feel too, Stacy. Sometimes it feels like life just slips away from us while we are trying to make living. I envy folks who have come up with alternative lifestyles that work for them.

    Thanks for pondering with me!

  4. I dreaded the rat race when I was in it. I miss it because I can't be in it. I cherish the time I have at home while I can enjoy it. =)

    1. It's true that we usually desire what we don't have and fail to fully appreciate what we do Elsie, though on the rare occasions I have been able to stay away from work for more than a weekend I appreciated it Very Very Much! I have no problem keeping myself busy when at home, but then it's by choice and not because someone else wants me to do it.

  5. I don't this is ever what anyone thinks it will be like - you summed that up perfectly. Kind of makes you wonder why doesn't it. :D

    1. I agree, I think we kind of get mislead about the whole working woman thing. If you have a career that you truly love... awesome! But I suspect that the mass majority of women, and probably men too, go to work each day dreading it and counting days to the weekend... what a way to live trading five for two. I keep thinking there's gotta be a better way, but at this point in the game I don't know how to make it happen.
