Listen to the Rain

It rained here last evening... no wind, no hail, just a beautiful steady, soaking rain.  The temperature dropped twenty degrees in a very short time, and the air smelled wonderful!  There is nothing quite as refreshing as the smell of rain - particularly if you're living in dry, barren place like we do.  The cats started out the windows in amazement, "What is this?" they seemed to be asking.  This morning everything is freshly washed... the sidewalks, the patio furniture, and our trucks.  I know that rain means the weeds are going to grow, and I don't even care... anything growing here is a sign of life renewing itself.  It has been such a long, hot summer!  I can't thank God enough for the blessing of the rain, and the sense of celebration it created.  How greatly we appreciate that which we long for when it finally comes!

    1. It was lovely, wasn't it Papa Bear! And it was fun seeing you hurry across the deck with our take-out pizza, getting a free shower in the process! :-)

  2. What, no hot tubbing?!? *LOL*
Maggie P. loves to watch the rain, even better a storm, from her bed in the bay window. I have never known a cat to love a storm as she does.
    Send us more rain! Hugs.

    1. Hot tubbing in the rain sounds pretty fun to me, Annie, as long as there is no lightning! How cool that Maggie enjoys storms, she and I would get along well. I love to watch them! I'd love to send some rain your way, have requested more for us too! It didn't even get to all the areas in town, we were some of the lucky ones.

    1. It doesn't happen often here Shimon, and this year has been particularly dry, as was last year. We are greatful for the rain, and also that it helps reduce the incidence of wild fires. Last year we had many in our area, and they are so dangerous!
