Still More About Me

I was adding tags to my blog posts the other night, and I started to tag some as "About Me".  I soon realized that 95% of what I write is about me.  I guess that's ok, since it's my blog and all, but I have to wonder if anyone really has a burning desire to know all this, or if I just like rambling on about myself.  Now my good friend Bozo has tagged me with this meme.  Once again, it's all about me, and I am happy to oblige :-)

1. Book or movie or TV show and why? I like them all, for different reasons. Show are a short and sweet distraction, movies a bit longer and sometimes worth the watch, and nothing beats spending an afternoon curled up with a cat or two and a good book!

2. Real book or e-book or audio book?  I don't have a Kindle, and although I can download Kindle on my notebook, I haven't done so yet.  I love the feel and smell of real books, but of course they are more cumbersome to tote and require two hands to hold and read.  My daughter reads books on her Iphone, that would drive me crazy, the screen is just too small!  I love audio books for long road trips. They make the time pass much faster.

3. Funniest thing you've done in the last five years?  Being so unaware of my surroundings that I attempted to get in the wrong vehicle when coming out of a convenience store. Thankfully, the door was locked, or I surely would have plunked down in the passenger seat.  The lady in the driver's seat was certainly surprised, and probably thought they'd let me out of the home for the day! When I got to our truck my husband was laughing so hard tears were rolling down his face.  I had hoped he hadn't noticed.... no chance. I'd like to say it's the only time I've done that, but it's not.  I also handed a complete stranger a cup of iced tea thru the truck window once... I thought that was my husband and our truck too.  Doing things like this is the reason my friend calls me Sister Josie Oblivious. Yup that's me, in my own little world!

4. Do you put yourself into the books you read/write or the movies you watch?  No, I am  more of a life observer than an active participant.  I use them to transport me to other places and times, and other ways of life, but I don't see myself in the story.  I don't do a lot of fantasizing, other than to imagine what life would be like if I was wealthy and didn't have to work.

5. How would your best friend describe you?  He would tell you that I'm the strangest woman he's ever met, also that I am kind and caring,  and that I "have really big boobs".  This is what happens when you ask your husband to describe you!  He is my best friend, none the less. :-)

6. Favorite kind of car and why?  If I was wealthy I'd own a Mercedes, I fell in love with  them when I lived in Germany.  I like my Escape just fine, and my hubby's new Ford truck.  Of course if I had my way they would all be purple! I don't like low-to the road sports cars, too hard for this old woman to get in and out of, and they slide too easily under a moving semi-truck.  I've seen it happen.

7. Would your choice for a party be a catered meal or a barbecue out back?  A full-moon barbecue out back, ribeye steaks and chicken on the grill, with all the fixin's catered! I don't need white linens and candles, though they add a romantic touch now and then!

8. What's your favorite season and why?  Spring - life returns flowers appear, and everything smells fresh and new, and it isn't so damn hot yet!  Summers in Texas mean triple-digit temps more days than not.  The heat and I don't get along well, so I end up spending most of my time inside.

9. What specific lesson have you learned - Spiritual, educational, occupational Spiritual - that life continues after death and that love is the most powerful force in the universe.  Educational - Stay in school so you'll have more opportunities in your life. Never stop learning.  Make good choices.  Occupational - Keep your work life and your personal life separate, don't let work become your life, and don't bring  your homelife issues to work!

10. Besides writing, what's your favorite thing to do when you get some extra time?  Reading and commenting on other blogs, riding the backroads in our Polaris Ranger, target shooting, counted cross-stitch, baking up something wonderful!

11.  What's one place you can be found at least one time every week? Relaxing with Papa Bear in the hot tub on the deck underneath the moon and stars!  We actually do this most nights, and we find that we sleep so much better when we do!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Ok, there you have it folks, now I'm supposed to assign this meme to eleven more folks, but I'll pass on that.  If the spirit moves you, feel free to copy, paste, and share your own answers!

Papa Bear is on the way  home with supper from the deli.  Time to wind down, settle in with the furkids, cuddle up, watch some tv and relax! He actually has tomorrow off, his once a month two-day weekend.  Our plan is to do some yard work and plant some flowers, but you can bet I'll squeeze in a little blog time too.  Enjoy your weekend!

  1. Wow, finally! I've been having hell with this post. Got it all done two hours ago and every time I try to post it it comes out with the questions all screwed up and out of order. I fix it, save it then repost it and it does the same. Finally I cut and pasted each question to a new post, and be darned if it didn't do it again! I think it looks ok now, at least for the moment. If it gets messed up again I'm deleting it and giving up!

  2. Well the post still looks good and I'm happy I read it before it messes up again!

Loved your answers so much, and you really made me laugh with the funny things you've done. Life is so much more interesting when you're a little goofy and live like this! Oblivious, maybe, but oh so fun lol... I have a tendency to be "oblivious" too :-)

Also really enjoyed your answer to how your best friend (husband) would describe you. The big boobs was hilarious! Would he really say that to someone? Or just think it? (I hope he would really say it lol).

Another interesting post - thank you!

    1. Yes Bozo, I think it's behaving now! I was beginning to think it was possessed! The truck scene really was hysterical. The lady in the other truck (not even the same kind of truck) looked over at my husband who just raised his hands and shook his head, as if to say "I don't know what's wrong with her either". We laughed about it for miles down the road. :-)

And yes, he really would, and has said that to his friends. It's a guy thing, they are very visual. LOL

  3. I loved these questions and answers now I have tried to get into the wrong car too thought it was my mums car and the fact that I was waiting for mum to pick me and an identical car pulled up outside my place I ran out and tried to get in then realised it wasn't mum.....so embarressing.........lol

I love the feel of a book in my hands too but also like to sometimes just listen to a book

    1. That makes me feel a little better Jo-Anne. Yes, it is very embarassing, my face has never been so red! I see a white truck and I don't even stop to look for all the things that make John's different from others. Silly me.

I love books and book stores and the smell of books, and the feel of crisp pages, I'm not sure technogy can replace that, despite it's convenience. Audio books are great for travel, or just to relax. I tend to wear out my eyes with the hours of work and play on the computer, so just listening at times is really nice! Though I sometimes have problems with the voices readers use. I wish they'd just read the story as I would, and not attempt different voices for different characters. My mind doesn't do that when I read!

  4. I loved your answers. It rained all day here and that's making the snow disappear which in turn is giving me a bit of an ich to do some back yard work as well. But that will be a while yet.
Funny, i would describe my wife pretty much the same. :)

    1. Ahh yes, as I noted I grew up in Dakota, it snowed in late October and it snowed in April. Sometimes there was sunshine in between. I know how great it feels when Spring finally starts appearing, and it does make us eager to get outside and play in the dirt. It's that farmer blood in your veins and in mine. :-)

LOL at men describing their wives, I'm pretty sure they only have a few adjectives to choose from and they go for the obvious! I can tell from your blog that you love her bunches, and that's what matters, same here, lucky Me!

  5. I often wonder if I post too much about myself but then I remember how great I am and go on about my day.

Great answers, I loved the stories about you not paying attention to the cars you were going to. I can "see" you doing it in my mind and I'm laughing like an idiot over here.

    1. LOL Monkey, I'm sure you do! For me it's actually bewildering. Hell, even I think my posts are long and boring! I have actually pulled the "wrong car" trick on a few other occassions as well, my mind is always somewhere else. In fact I'm fairly certain it's long since departed, never to return!

  6. I too have been tagged and everyone time I read someone else's answers, I feel less inclined to post mine.

Loved the answer to question 9 and giggled at hubby's 'really big boobs' description. Hee hee.

    1. You really must do it Lily, you have a wonderful way with words and I'm certain we'll be entertained!

So I woke up this morning to discover this post has had a whopping 290 views overnight... far more than any of my posts receive! WTH? I'm guessing it's from guys searching for "big boobs". Too funny!

  7. Drats! I was going to ask you about your hot tub in One Question Wednesday LOL

I'm glad you use it. I've wanted one for some time but...well...finances and all that. I bet you sleep like a baby after using it. My BFF has one and she and her hubby used it all the time but then her work schedule changed and now the don't - so sad.

    1. LOL, Elsie, now you'll have to think up another question! :-) We couldn't have afforded it either, but bought it with a little of the inheritance money I received from my Dad. He loved hot tubs and being out in the country and would so have loved soaking in it on our deck. He made our little place out here possible, one more thing I love him for! My sister bought a house with a hot tub and they hardly ever use it, I doubt if she's been in it a dozen times. I don't understand it, because she also has fibro and it does wonders for the pain.
