Happy Saint Patricks Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Papa Bear!

That's my official contribution for this week's Six Word Saturday.   My beloved spouse "Papa Bear" is half Irish and half Scottish, and the very finest of both! For most of his adult life he has worn a full beard, and I love it. His hair and beard are silvery white now, and so very distinguished looking; in his younger days his hair was dark brown but his beard was bright red! I have one photograph of him from 1985 with it big and bushy, looking much like a lumberjack in his plaid flanned shirt. He was just as cute way back then! He has told me that his short of stature but big of heart mother, dwarfed by his size, always said his red beard was the Irish coming out in him!  Bless her for teaching him what it meant to love and be loved despite all the hardships they endured. I wish I could have known her.

If you're celebrating today, go easy on the Irish whiskey and green beer, and drive safely, you don't want to be recalled by your Maker sooner than was intended.  I leave you with  my favorite Irish Blessing... the friends I have in the blogsphere are my lucky charms indeed!

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand

    1. Thank you Leann! I was going to pin a button on the Papa Bear's shirt that said "Kiss Me I'm Irish" but since he manages a truck accessories store and works with all guys, he didn't think that would be much fun. As an alternative, I suggested posting a sign on his back that said "Kick Me I'm Irish". He didn't care for that option either. Geesh... sometimes there's just no pleasing men! LOL :-))

    1. Irish Blessings are many and beautiful, Bozo... that one is my very favorite! Sadly, the poor Papa Bear works on Saturdays and won't be off 'til after 3PM. We'll be going out for dinner then, but it's Mexican fare on tap for date night tonite (and yes we do date night, all couples should!). Sadly, we have no Irish pubs in our area and if there were, I'm sure they would be mobbed. Remembering fondly the delicious Irish food we shared at Nine Fine Irishmen in Las Vegas last fall, looking forward to going there again someday down the road.

    2. Well let it be a stretched out St. Paddy's Day then... make it last until you're both free and can hunt down some tasty Irish food to celebrate!

    1. It is so beautifully stated, Karen... what a lovely New Year's blessing for Christmas cards! I really need to make a cross stitch of this one for our wall.

  5. It's one of my favorites too; and I'm not even Irish. I hope your handsome Irish husband and you had a wonderful Mexican dinner tonight. I agree, all couples should do a date night. D and I are trying to get back in the habit again once I find a flipping job =) We replaced it with lunch but it's not quite the same.

    1. THank you L! We did indeed have one of the best dinners in a long while at Abeulos - jumbo shrimp stuffed with jalapeno strips and wrapped in bacon, then grilled over an open fire. Cooked to perfection and so delicious! Date nite is so good, something to look forward to, we don't always eat out, sometimes go to a movie (we can get in for senior prices cuz to the kids selling tickets we look pretty darn old), walk the mall, take our Polaris Ranger out for a run on the backroads, or just hit the drive-in for burgers and shakes. It's about getting out and away together, time to talk and relax. Setting aside time for each other is essential.
